Many Australian’s aren’t as fortunate. Over 100,000 Australians are living without a roof over their heads each night. When you hear about this large number of people sleeping rough each night, you can’t help but feel something is terribly wrong. My organisation prides itself on the work we do within CSR, and I wanted to be the person to put up their hand up to raise awareness and funds for this issue, inside and outside of our organisation. To that end, in June I’ll be sleeping rough and participating in Vinnies CEO Sleepout on the 21st of June. For me, being involved might just be the prodding I need to ensure I work harder to help others less fortunate than myself and my family. As an ageing Executive who likes the home comforts it might be tough, but it’s nothing compared to those who face a cold night on a daily basis. I’m hoping that on the night we’ll have a really strong turnout from the business community. Already there are some 325 CEO’s and Executives taking part in Sydney alone (1,300 across Australia) and I have set a personal goal to raise $5,000. That’s got to help in some small way.
