An international aid response is under way, with financial donations a key way to aid the recovery effort and help up to 10 million people affected by the disaster get back on their feet. Teachers Mutual Bank will donate $25,000 to the relief fund which has been set up by Credit Union Foundation Australia (CUFA) on behalf of the mutual industry. CUFA’s Typhoon Haiyan Appeal is raising much-needed funds to assist the Philippines’ financial cooperatives get back on their feet so they can directly help their communities rebuild their lives after this enormous tragedy. Funds raised will go directly to credit unions in the Philippines. Through CUFA’s work, the mutual banking sector in Australia has been a long term supporter of credit unions in the Asia Pacific.
