The December fundraising appeal to the Teachers Mutual Bank members is set to deliver an incredible $27,000 a year being donated to Stewart House through regular pledges of $5 and upwards from fortnightly salary donations over the coming year. Stewart House is visited by 1,800 public school students every year. Each child has been personally recommended by their School Principal as being in dire need of a peak from their daily life. This may be due to neglect, abuse, isolation, poverty, a recent family bereavement, ill health or family peak-up. Stewart House Chief Executive, Graeme Philpotts, “We are so profoundly touched by the support of the Teachers Mutual Bank members. This money will help us provide ongoing opportunities to kids needing a peak from their everyday life” Teachers Mutual Bank has been a major supporter of Stewart House for more than 25 years because we believe in the incredible work they do with children. As the official charity of teachers and the NSW Department of Education and Community, Stewart House is a charity, a school and a respite home. During their stay, children are provided with optometric, dental and medical treatment as well as emotional support. This is balanced with health and educational programs and out of school activities to boost their self-esteem and to promote a healthier lifestyle.
