It’s either one or the other; there is no half way. Over the years of working with many different people, with physical, personal, business or financial goals, the most obvious thing I notice with those who had success is they had a great support network. There are certainly those with the tenacity and self-will to do it all themselves, but they are the minority. I’ve spoken before about goal setting and the value of having a plan to review every few weeks or months. If you did this then I’m confident you are in a better place now than when you wrote it down. The next step is something that, as teachers, you should have no problems with….. communicating! Communicate your goals with someone who can keep you accountable: your partner, a family member, training buddy or even your students. Imagine the engagement and the comradery you will have with your students as they share and encourage you along your health and fitness journey! This is an example of the power of teamwork. When times are tough, or the mornings seem too cold, or the goal looks like it is too great, this is when that person you shared your vision with will be there to spur you along and help you through. Michael Jordan, greatest basketballer of all time, had four other players by his side on the court at every step of the way. His brilliance will never be underestimated, but it took a team to help him to achieve his dreams. How many people in your life will you allow to help you achieve your goal of being the best you can possibly be?
