The panel faced a really difficult decision this year, all four schools should be congratulated for achieving excellence in their respective context. Shenton College impressed the selection panel through its response to the need to provide diverse pathways for students attending the college. A wide array of curriculum programs and co-curricular activities are on offer, which provides students with numerous opportunities to develop their social and leadership skills and to also achieve academic, sporting and cultural success. Increasingly the college has responded to the needs of training and industry and many will be surprised perhaps by their high level of VET participation and achievement. “Our success is the result of our strong learning community, excellent partnerships within and outside the college, and wonderful staff and students who work incredibly hard.” It’s known as the ‘Shenton difference’ and it’s what the judges said set this school apart. High quality teaching, a focus on the whole student, visionary leadership and strong partnerships are clearly evident.
